He is an avid tennis player and has been a basketball referee, as well as a broadcast announcer for high school and college football games. He has co-hosted the current incarnation of Sports Call since 2012, and he is a proud supporter of Memphis sports. Go Tigers! and Go Grizz!

Inside Preps with Leroy Watson was conceived for one reason: to highlight the young men and women who participate in Shelby County prep athletics. Leroy Watson is a long time follower of the high school sports scene in the Memphis area and is an avid public speaker & writer. His career as a journalist began at Bleacher Report in 2008. He became one of their most decorated writers in the site's history, winning the since-retired “Article of the Day” distinction a site-record 29 times. He began covering the University of Memphis athletic programs in 2009. He began dipping his toe in the radio world in 2012 with recurrent guest appearances on Talk Back Live here on 730 AM. However, in January 2014, he decided to stop complaining that there wasn't enough coverage of Shelby County prep athletics and started Inside Preps with Leroy Watson. The rest, as they say, is history!
